National Youth Science day

A few pop bottles and a couple ballons is all it takes to start a party Add a few other ingredients and you ve got some fuel It s National Youth Science Day and National 4-H week To celebrate these Roosevelt 4th graders are adding a little fun to science class The students are conducting their own experiment attempting to make biofuel from 4 different materials Each bottle starts with yeast and water Sugar corn syrup switchgrass and wheat bran is added to each and a ballon is put on the top Then it s time to sit back and watch the ballons fill up Jackie Buckley Morton Co Ext Agent Lucas Geiger 4th grader ON CAMERA 4-H launched National Youth Science Day in 2008 to help meet its goal of engaging 1 million more young people in science engineering and technology by 2013
