Gas Prices are putting a hurt on everyone including cities Bismarck Mayor John Warford is asking all departments to sit down and look for ways to conserve fuel The Bismarck Public Works Department will be doing a test to see how a change in fuel can affect their operation They have bought two pickups - one will run on E-85 and the other on ten percent ethanol blend Dennis Albers Bismarck Public Works we havent had as much as much problem with fuel lines and condensation Ethanol seems to keep the moisture out of the tanks Albers says the study will last one year He recognizes there are many studies out there saying ethanol does not burn as efficient as regular gasoline But he says the city should determine which kind of fuel works better for its needs Dennis Albers Bismarck Public Works The use of our machines is a little different we don t run on highways a lot We do a lot of stop and go and a lot of idling You know we let them idle quite a bit So were trying to figure out if it is going to be good for us to do that not somebody else Albers says the city currently uses a ten percent blend of ethanol in all of their vehicles
