A well-established ethanol plant in eastern North Dakota is stopping operations for the time-being citing a squeeze caused by high corn prices and declining ethanol prices What does that situation mean for a planned ethanol plant near Williston Not much according to the project coordinator for Yellowstone Ethanol Mike Daly says the ethanol plant that is scheduled to be built here near Trenton is much different because it will also be a coal-fired power plant selling energy to power companies while using steam from the power plant to help in the ethanol production Daly says there is still hope to get some pre-construction jobs done at the site before spring Mike Daly Yellowstone Ethanol We d still like to do some dirt moving this fall and winter We have a crude oil line running through our property that ll need to be relocated Get that done and access roads done so when the freeze thaws in the spring we can go full force Daly says the ethanol plant and power plant will cost about 190 million dollars to construct and will employ close to 400 people during construction He says about 30 to 40 permanent jobs will be created by the operation
