Farmland Value on the Rise

Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson says he sees no end to rising farm land values He says North Dakota farm land is a demand-driven market and there is high demand for it The federal Agriculture Department says the value of farmland in North Dakota has risen 13 percent in the past year to an average of 650 dollars an acre It s the eighth consecutive year of an increase U-S farm real estate values have risen 14 percent to a record 27-hundred dollars per acre The Agriculture Department says the increase in farm real estate values continues to be driven by strong commodity prices and farm programs and other factors Johnson says higher Corn prices stemming from demand for ethanol have boosted land values
