Flex-Fuel Cars May Require Software Update
July 14, 2007 by admin
As Gas Prices have risen over the last few years some people have opted to transition to vehicles that run on flex-fuela combination of gasoline and ethanol But if you re driving one of those cars its engine might not be running as efficiently as possible To fix the problem GM recently released a software update for some its vehicles with flex-fuel engines Some current fuel system software may incorrectly measure the amount of ethanol in your vehicle s tank which causes that inefficiency Kurt Guenther Chevy Maintenance Department It needs to know exactly how much alcohol is in the fuel so it can adjust the fuel mixture accordingly to how much ethanol is in there Ethanol does not burn as quickly and as fast as regular gas so the computer systems have to adjust to that If you have a flex-fuel vehicle check with your GM manufacturer to see if your car or truck may need this software update
