Conrad Talks Farm Bill in North Dakota

North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad spent some time in his home state this week He was in Mandan Friday collecting research data he hopes to take with him back to Washington His goal is to share this information with other lawmakers developing a new Farm Bill Among his stopsthe Northern Great Plains Research Lab in Mandan There scientists presented Senator Conrad with the results of a research study on growing switchgrass and its ability to capture carbon from the atmosphere Senator Kent Conrad ND D We know as part of global climate change that the big increase in Carbon Dioxide in the world has to be addressed And this is one very effective way of doing a whole series of things having feed stock for energy that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and at the same time sequester Carbon so that we re addressing those issues of global climate change as well Conrad says the work researchers are doing in the Mandan lab is leading the nation in renewable energy development
