Conrad meets with scientists in Mandan

North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad was in Mandan today collecting research data that he hopes to take back to Washington with him His goal is the use the information to share with other lawmakers in developing a new Farm Bill Conrad met with scientists at the Northern Great Plains Research Lab There they presented the senator with the results of a research study on growing switchgrass and its ability to capture Carbon from the atmosphere Senator Kent Conrad ND D We know as part of global climate change that the big increase in Carbon Dioxide in the world has to be addressed And this is one very effective way of doing a whole series of things having feed stock for energy that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and at the same time sequester Carbon so that we re addressing those issues of global climate change as well Conrad says the work being done at the Mandan lab is leading the nation in renewable energy development
