Renewable Energy Summit Begins With Vehicle Showcase

North Dakota is no doubt leading the nation in talks on renewable energy That s why Governor John Hoeven and Senator Byron Dorgan are hosting a renewable fuels summit tomorrow in Bismarck And to kick the summit off was a unique vehicle showcase today at Bismarck State College Each vehicle on display is one of the latest to be built to run on renewable fuels hopefully saving you money Those vehicles included the Dodge Charger Flex Fuel converted vehicle a converted hydrogen internal combustion vehicle and tractors that run on Canola biodiesel and hydrogen Industry experts like Chris Disher with Flex Fuel U S out of Chicago were there to answer questions Disher s company will soon be able to offer consumers the first EPA-approved converter kit for vehicles The kit will allow a mechanic to convert a vehicle for under a thousand dollars Disher says vehicles run by renewable fuels like ethanol are the future Chris Disher Flex Fuels U S If you want to use E85 or Ethanol in your car right now you have to buy a flex-fuel vehicle or find a used one We built a kit that you can put on a gas-powered car and it ll turn it into a flex-fuel car So you can use E85 you can use gasoline or any mixture of the two And the Governor s renewable fuels summit begins tomorrow morning on the campus of Bismarck State College and will feature experts from across the country Together lawmakers and experts will discuss how North Dakota can boost production and use of ethanol
